Greetings!
It’s been a few months since we featured an artist on Urban-Muse.com as there has been some behind the scenes stuff going on keeping us occupied. We’d love to get back in the groove again by shining our spotlight on one of our favorite artists Richard Salcido.
Richard is a really awesome mixed media and acrylic artist. What really sets you back after the beauty of his figures is the weathering, and mixed media effects he does on his mostly wood panels. Oftentimes he literally beats the shit out of the paintings, scrapes deep gouges through them, adds collages, washes them completely out with abstract washes, and even sets them on fire!
Richard is a family man recently married to his wife a Alicia a lovely muse (if we dare say). He also recently had a baby girl, who seems to love to watch her pop paint. According to his Bio he was born in raised in San Diego California and is heavily involved in the So-Cal art scene.
We had the pleasure of viewing his piece “Prosaic” on display at WWA Art Gallery in Culver City recently and his pieces really need to be seen in person to be fully enjoyed, you can really see the texture of the paneling, and the aggressive but beautiful undulations of his painterly portraits of brooding, badass, and undeniably sexy muses.
Richard is an awesome artist, and by all appearances a really awesome guy. Keep you eye on him via his blog at http://www.RichardSalcido.com/ and if you see his name on a upcoming show do yourself a favor and attend and even buy a piece.
Salcido is a badass.
