Caroline Westerhout – Urban-Muse Featured Artist

During our travels we came across the work of Dutch artist Caroline Westerhout and were absolutely enthralled.
Caroline’s work exudes deep sensuality, sexiness, and eroticism, while treading the line gracefully between what can be considered art and what is acceptable to paint.

Caroline’s work is always masterful, and never once feels pornographic, even with dealing with very in your face nudity. One of her paintings: “Totally Naked”  clearly states with text (In English) “This is not about Sex! I Repeat Not!”

Her painterly style has deep ties to the symbolist and art nouveau movements evoking the magical feeling of looking at a Gustav Klimt for the first time. She has a strong body of work producing a consistent stream of solid paintings throughout her career. She has shown in many exhibitions throughout the Netherlands and even Afghanistan.

She may still be relatively unknown to English speakers in England, and the United States, but we are sure this is a name that you will be sure to remember. Below are some of our favorites. Be sure to visit her website to see the rest of her wonderful work and to contact her directly.
