Cover Image featuring Irakli Nadar for Urban-Muses Best of 2019 art spectacular

Another year flew by! We are just days away from it being 2020? Can you believe it? When I started Urban-Muse.com in 2007 I never knew if it would last this long or what it would become. Looking back on over 10 years of Urban-Muse in it’s current state I can be proud of what Urban-Muse and the thousands of artists featured have accomplished.
Urban-Muse is one of the absolute best places to discover new artists anywhere on the web, and has helped artists boost their social media reach and helped get them hundreds of thousands of fans, and generate sales / commissions for themselves.

Urban-Muse has been an overwhelmingly positive impact on the art community. And as we go into the 2020’s Urban-Muse will continue to grow and change, with the primary goal of me (Curt Anderson) releasing control of the website from myself and putting the keys in the hands of artists themselves. Also in the future this yearly “Best of Feature” will likely turn into a contest/prize where Urban-Muse’s fans will vote on their favorite and the winner will get a cash prize. But that’s in the future.

Over 2020 we are going to start introducing guest “ARTIST TAKEOVERS” where we will invite, and pay some of our favorite artists to take over our Facebook and Instagram feeds. They will be encouraged to highlight some of their own favorite art, and even highlight important pieces of their own, whatever they like, the goal is for it to be fun.

While this is going on I will be working at a new position in Hollywood, where my ultimate goal will be to work on and alongside productions, and then after a period of years circle back with that new knowledge and film an honest to goodness documentary travel TV show pilot based on Urban-Muse and try to sell it to Netflix etc. My dream for Urban-Muse is that you will get a chance to visit  with your favorite artists visually in their hometowns and really get a sense of what these great artists are like as living breathing human beings. I hope this will have an effect on the arts as a whole and help to raise awareness of the struggle we artists go through just to survive.  I can see a TV show in my head, and I’d like to make that dream a reality someday.

This is going to be a big task, but if it were successful it will put Urban-Muse on many more millions of  screens across the world. Ideally I would want it to have a cultural impact, something like the Tattoo Shows do for tattooists. But more for cutting edge digital artists and exciting traditional artists. Just imagine the social media boost an artist would get from being featured on an awesome art show on Netflix? Staggering.

That’s the goal. That’s where Urban-Muse is heading. But in order to do this I have to step away and focus my energy on film. Urban-Muse will be in good hands, the artists you love so dearly. Your favorite artists will be in control of Urban-Muse.

IRAKLI NADAR

For 2019, it was an easy choice for the artist I felt would be the best fit for this “Best of” special for 2019. It had to be Irakli Nadar. It had to be. Throughout this year Irakli has pushed himself even further and I believe is raising the bar for the medium of digital art as a whole. He is pushing digital art to the absolute maximum. He has actually SURPASSED photorealism, because if you compare his paintings to the reference, often his paintings look BETTER than reality. It’s somewhat bizarre to say, but visit his instagram to see what I mean. Every time a new Irakli painting would hit my personal feed, I was absolutely blown away. I would repost it on Urban-Muse saying things like “Irakli does it again!”
No artist has impressed me as much as Irakli Nadar in 2019. He is an artist in his prime, and at this moment in 2019 just may be the greatest painter on earth. Digital or otherwise. Irakli Nadar is a living legend and we are lucky to have him on this cover.

For the past 3 covers I have happily paid the artists and a gesture of gratitude. I offered to pay Irakli for this cover but he declined and offered use of the image for free. That’s the kind of guy Irakli is and the kind of friendship we have formed over the many years we’ve known each other.
